Environmental Protection Agency (U.S.A.) grants Energy Star Label to 729 buildings, including 326 Commercial buildings, 287 schools, and 116 public buildings in 40 states. (March 22nd, 2002)
- Those buildings used about 40% less energy than average buildings, without compromise in comfort, Environmental Protection Agency in U.S.A. announced. -Those buildings also reduced 19 billion pounds of carbon emission since 1999

EU Council and Assembly agreed to adopt EURO-I (emission standard for year 2000) for motorcycles from year 2006 (Mar.22nd, 2002)
- Stricter emission standards for newly produced motorcycles will be applied in stages from 2003 to 2006
- The measurement will be changed to UN-ECE world-wide test cycle

Japan announced a detailed strategy for 6 % reduction of green house gas emission compared to the year 1990 emission level (March 19th, 2002)
- Japan assigned a target reduction of 7% from Industry, 2% from household, 17% from transportation, abided by the Kyoto Protocol
- Japan will reduce 2.2 million tons of carbon dioxide by energy-saving, 3.4 million tons by using alternative energy, 1.8 million tons by changing energy source. In addition, Japan will promote nuclear power generation.
