The First Korea – Russia Environment Ministers Meeting to be Held in Russia from May 12 to 15

 

The Minister of Environment Maanee Lee visits Russia to attend the first Korea-Russia Environment Ministers Meeting and the 3rd Nevsky International Ecological Congress from May 12 to 15, 2010.

 

Minister Lee plans to meet with Yuri Petrovich Trutnev, the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia on May 13 and discuss exchange of environmental industries for green growth and endangered species restoration project.

 

At the first environment ministers meeting since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two ministers will discuss the way to work together in preparing policies to adapt to climate change and conducting cooperation projects such as building waste landfill sites and restoring endangered Amur tigers.

 

In addition, Minister Lee will take part in the 3rd Nevsky International Ecological Congress from May 14 to 15 and deliver keynote address, introducing Korea’s green growth policies and emphasizing the necessity of global cooperation in solving environmental issues.

 

It is expected that the ministerial meeting will pave the way for active cooperation and exchange of environmental technology and experts.
