Minister of Environment Creates Upcycled Products with the Next Generation, Sharing Values of Resource Circulation

▷Minister Han Wha-jin Engages in Policy Communication on Resource Circulation by Creating Upcycled Products with the Next Generation


Han Wha-jin, the Minister of Environment, discusses the importance of resource circulation and environmental values while creating upcycled products with the resources abandoned together with the next generation. 


The Ministry of Environment (Minister Han Wha-jin) announced that Minister Han Wha-jin visited the Public Designism (located in Cheongwon-gu, Cheongju) on December 27 to tour the resource upcycling site. During the visit, the Minister held a communication meeting on the theme of resource circulation with young employees, the Ministry of Environment's social media team*, and others. 

* Composed of 30 citizens with a keen interest in the environment, they produce digital content by covering the Ministry of Environment's key policies and activities. The content is then shared through the Ministry of Environment's social media pages. 


This event is part of the Ministry of Environment's campaign called “Smile with the Environment,” which aims to closely communicate with the youth and future generations. The campaign seeks to share environmental awareness and vision in a friendly and natural way.


The “Smile with the Environment” campaign had its first event, the “Communication Meeting on Animal Welfare,” held at the Seoul Wildlife Center (located in Gwanak-gu, Seoul) on December 13. The second event took place on December 18 at COEX (located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul), featuring a nationwide forum to share the outcomes of the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP) with the public.


In the third meeting held on December 27, members of the Ministry of Environment's social media team and young employees from Public Designism, a social enterprise focused on resource upcycling, attended. They shared their achievements and impressions from this year's activities and engaged in various discussions on the importance of resource circulation and the value of resource upcycling based on their individual experiences. 


Minister Han Wha-jin freely communicates on various topics such as the concerns and interests of young people nowadays, eco-friendly practices and activities, challenges faced by eco-friendly businesses, and policy-related aspirations. 


Furthermore, on this day, Minister Han Wha-jin, along with members of the Ministry of Environment's social media team, collaborated to create upcycled bags using discarded fabric banners. Through this activity, they shared the importance of eco-friendly actions and the value of resource circulation.


Minister Han Wha-jin of the Ministry of Environment stated, "We will increase opportunities for communication tailored to the perspective of future generations, and we will spare no support for companies that realize eco-friendly high added value through creative ideas." She added, "In the future, we will continue to listen to the voices of the younger generation and implement effective environmental policies that resonate with them."


The Ministry of Environment plans to showcase policies under the theme of the 'Smile with the Environment' campaign by actively engaging with the younger generation and the public. The Ministry aims to discover various environmental policy initiatives, such as promoting the use of reusable containers, and communicate extensively to present policies that resonate with and bring smiles to the entire nation.
