▷ Revisions of the Noise and Vibration Control Act pass the National Assembly
Sejong, June 27 - The Ministry of Environment (Minister Han Wha-jin) announced that the Noise and Vibration Control Act has been passed in the National Assembly plenary session on May 25. The Noise and Vibration Control Act, which passed the National Assembly, will be enforced one year after its promulgation as decided in the Cabinet meeting.
Under the newly passed Noise and Vibration Control Act, local government heads are required to conduct regular inspections for violations of vehicle noise standards and report semi-annually to the Minister of Environment.
Furthermore, the heads of local governments are now provided with a legal basis to request cooperation from relevant specialized agencies such as local police stations and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority during their regular inspections. This measure aims to prevent safety accidents that may occur at inspection sites and enhance the effectiveness of inspections by utilizing professional noise measurements.
The Ministry plans to make every effort to ensure that the recently passed Noise and Vibration Control Act is implemented promptly at the field level. It is also committed to providing advanced guidance to local governments and relevant agencies. This is intended to contribute to reducing noise-related damages in people's daily lives.
