In preparation for the rainy season this summer, the Ministry of Environment announced a special inspection and control measures for wastewater and waste treatment facilities around the nation.

The special inspection period, which is planned from June 16 to August 2nd, is to prepare for the wastes and wastewater that is stored in discharge facilities from flowing into the rivers along with a sudden flood and torrential downpour which is common during the rainy season.

The facilities subject to the special inspection are wastewater and waste treatment facilities as well as sewage discharge facilities with poor management conditions. Before the rainy season begins, the inspection will be concentrated on prevention of damages by environmental pollution, and during the heavy rainfall, the focus will be on making a regular round of inspection.

Since there's a limit in administrative personnel to keep watch on all the unlawful and secretive activities of pouring out the wastewater and wastes into the rivers during the rainy season, the Ministry of Environment will be operating a 24-hour reporting center for citizens to report unlawful acts. The citizens may report an accident by simply dialing 128.
