The Presidential Water Commission (private sector chairman: Bae Deok-hyo) will hold its third regular seminar of 2024 on July 3 in the afternoon at Post Tower, located in Jung-gu, Seoul. The seminar’s theme will be “The Role of Dams in the Era of Climate Crisis and Future Development Directions.”
This seminar has been organized to discuss regional cooperation measures and multipurpose utilization methods of dams, which are increasingly emphasized in the era of climate crisis. Following presentations on five different topics*, there will be a comprehensive discussion chaired by Commissioner Chung Gun-hui of the Presidential Water Commission.

The seminar is expected to be attended by over 100 participants, including water-related academics, experts, officials from organizations managing domestic water reservoirs such as multipurpose and agricultural reservoirs, and hydroelectric dams. The Presidential Water Commission plans to actively gather diverse and innovative opinions from participants during the seminar.
Private sector chairman Bae Deok-hyo of the Presidential Water Conmission stated, “The role of water reservoirs is becoming increasingly important to address extreme floods, water scarcity, and the rising future water demand due to advanced industries.” He added, “The various utilization methods of dams to be discussed in this seminar will be applied in the field with the Presidential Water Commission playing a bridging role.”
