KEITI to offer free consultation on the calculation of CO2 emission of products

Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI) will carry out a “project to support free calculation of CO2 emissions” from February 19 to July 15 with an aim to help companies calculate greenhouse gas emissions generated from the entire process of manufacturing and receive Carbon Reduction Label.

※ Carbon Reduction Label: A system to mark the amount of greenhouse gas emissions from the entire process of production (acquisition of raw material → production → distribution→ use → disposal) on products by converting into the amount of CO2 emissions

The project supports the calculation of GHG emissions generated during the entire process of production from acquiring raw material to use and disposal for free of charge. In addition, the project will provide support to companies for training working-level staff in charge of GHG management and applying for Carbon Reduction Label as well as present analysis report on calculating carbon emissions by reflecting characteristics of the types of industry or product.

Among small-and medium-sized enterprises, 30 companies will be selected for the project. KEITI will provide free consulting on carbon emissions calculation for two products of each company, a total of 60 products.

Through the project, companies are expected to save costs for calculating carbon emissions worth millions of won and effectively cope with climate change by voluntarily reducing carbon food prints.

Companies interested in joining the project can apply for the project at any time during the application period, and KEITI select companies every end of the month by documentation reviewing and on-site evaluation.

Application forms can be downloaded at the website (www.keiti.re.kr/www.edp.or.kr). After filling out the form, companies should send the form via e-mail (edp_co2@keiti.re.kr) or fax (02-380-0444).

“I hope Korean SMEs take full advantage of the project to produce low-carbon products and cut GHG emissions,” said Kim Yong-joo, president of KEITI.
