On May 23, Environment Minister Han Wha-jin held a press briefing at the Seoul Government Complex regarding the promotion of Palgongsan Mountain as a national park. Previously a provincial park of Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do, Palgongsan Mountain was designated as the 23rd national park in Korea. The decision was made by the National Park Committee on the same day after deliberation.
