Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dispatch Water Industry Cooperation Team to Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Environment (Minister Han Wha-jin) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minister Park Jin) announced the dispatch of a 'Korea-Kazakhstan Water Industry Cooperation Delegation' to the local area to enhance the overseas export activities of the South Korean water industry.


In this cooperation delegation, eight domestic companies* in the water sector aspiring to enter the Kazakhstan market will participate as private sector delegates. The delegation will also include representatives from the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, K-Water, K-Eco, and the Korea Water Partnership.

The cooperation delegation is scheduled to hold a Water Industry Cooperation Conference on August 23 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, with the participation of government officials and business representatives from both countries.


The Water Industry Cooperation Conference aims to explore cooperation opportunities in the water sector between South Korea and Kazakhstan, introduce domestic water sector companies as potential suppliers to Kazakhstan, and support the export and contract procurement activities of domestic companies in Kazakhstan.


At the cooperation conference, water sector representatives from both countries will present their respective water management policies and water resources infrastructure. The eight domestic companies participating in the cooperation delegation will showcase their product lines and technologies to potential buyers in Kazakhstan.


In Kazakhstan, the cooperation conference will be attended by relevant government agencies responsible for water, including the Committee for Water Resources under the Ministry of Ecology, Geology, and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, as well as state-owned water management enterprises such as Kazvodkhoz and Kazakh Invest.


Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conducted preliminary discussions with water authority officials from Kazakhstan prior to this cooperation conference, and prepared tailored cooperation meetings that reflect local requests, such as water treatment equipment, remote control and automation smart water management technology, and the construction of water resource-based facilities.


Son Ok-ju, Director-General of Water Resources Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Environment, stated, "Kazakhstan is one of the promising countries with increasing demand for water resource-based facilities. Through cooperation between the two countries' agencies, we expect the expansion of domestic water industry exports."
