Introducing the Next-Generation Comprehensive Information Management System for Waste Resource Energy

▷ Korea Environment Corporation fully overhauls existing system and will operate from January 13

The Korea Environment Corporation (KECO, CEO Ahn Byung-ok) under the Ministry of Environment announced that it will officially operate the revamped next-generation ‘Comprehensive Information Management System for Waste Resource Energy (srf-info.or.kr)’ from January 13.

The next-generation ‘Comprehensive Information Management System for Waste Resource Energy’ has been established to meet the government’s environmental policies and achieve energy conservation and greenhouse gas reduction targets through the recycling of waste resources.

The KECO plans to operate the system so that the public and businesses can easily access information related to waste resources.

In addition, for the operation of this system, the relevant tasks have been completely redesigned by gathering opinions from experts in various fields, and information on 10 types* of waste resource energy, such as Solid Refuse Fuel (SRF) and biogas, has been integrated into one place for ‘easy and convenient’ viewing.

* Solid Refuse Fuel (SRF), biogas, landfill gas, incineration heat, refined fuel oil, recycled fuel oil, pyrolysis oil, organic sludge, cement kiln auxiliary fuel, syngas

This system has addressed issues related to information dispersion and inefficient data processing in the existing system, and has incorporated the latest information and communication technology (IT) to enhance user convenience and systematically manage waste resource energy.

In addition, it provides analytical functions for the energy conversion process of waste resources, including production, recovery, utilization, sales, and supply, to support relevant institutions and businesses in making prompt and accurate decisions.

The system has also introduced an ‘internet-based integrated and shared information communication resource (cloud service)’ feature to enable various institutions to collaborate and share information.

CEO Ahn Byung-ok stated, “This next-generation Comprehensive Information Management System for Waste Resource Energy will significantly enhance the efficiency of waste resource energy conversion and serve as an important stepping stone in establishing a sustainable energy supply chain.” He added, “Both the public and private sectors will be able to conveniently share data and actively participate in waste resource recycling and energy efficiency improvements.”
