With a theme of "Give Earth a Chance!", various celebrations will be held on World Environment Day. For the official celebration, commemorative exercises will be held at Sejong Center for the Preforming Arts.

World Environment Day commemorates the first international environmental conference, United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm in 1972. In Korea, the day recognized and announced as one of the days for national celebration in 1996.

Korean Ministry of Environment will held various environmental events nationwide such as campaigns, clean-up movements, vehicle emission tests, seminars, forums, eco-tours, essay contests, etc. In addition, Ministry of Environment designated June as a Month of Environment in order to promote environmental events from various sectors, such as industries, NGOs, etc.
