Environmental Labelling Associations of Korea, Taiwan and Thailand signed Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) on environmental products, and Japan and China will sign the agreement in a near future.

Upon signing this agreement, conformity assessment of one country will be recognized in other contracting member nations, reducing the transaction cost related to passing each nation's conformity assessment.  For example, Korean Environmental Labelling will be recognized as the same as Japanese Eco Mark, Taiwanese Green Mark, etc. and vice versa.

Also, MRA might remove the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) induced by conformity assessment; thus it is expected to increase the trade of environmental products among those Asian countries.

The president of Korean Environmental Labelling Association said that the association would endeavor to increase contracting member nations to EU, Germany and Sweden.
