A Seminar on Air Pollution is Held Commemorating the World Environment Day

The Ministry of Environment and the National Institute of Environmental Research jointly hold a seminar commemorating the 15th World Environment Day under the theme ‘Healthy Life with Clean Air without Toxic Substance’ in Seoul on May 28.

As environmental diseases including atopic dermatitis have been serious social problems, concern about exposure to air pollution materials has been raised. At the seminar, there will be in-depth presentation and discussion on the influence of hazardous air pollutants on people and the way to protect human health against these materials. In addition, the discussion on the global issue ‘management of mercury’ will be included.

At the second part of the seminar, there will be consultation on the government’s policy regarding hazardous air pollutants with the participation by 30 experts from industry, academic circles, and research groups so as to lay the groundwork to manage hazardous air pollutants. Moreover, diverse and comprehensive discussion and research will be conducted regarding risk of hazardous materials including mercury and benzene, the cause of pollution, and development of disposal technology to secure safe and clean air quality.
