The 2nd training workshop on Transboundary Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in North-East Asia

the 2nd training workshop on transboundary environmental impact assessment (eia) in north-east asia will be held in beijing in china from 17th to 22nd october, 2005.

in the workshop, there will be participations including experts and officials from north and south korea, china, russia and mongolia to discuss the standardization and training strategies of transboundary environment impact assessment in developing a large scale investment project.

the ministry of environment in korea and the state of environmental protection administration of china will jointly host the 2nd training workshop inviting approximately 36 of relevant officials and experts.

the workshop will contribute in strengthening environmental cooperation for the environmental conservation in the north east asia and establish a bond of compatibility among the nations for the sustainable development of the river tumen basin.

in addition, as a follow up workshop project on tuman net that was held in seoul, 4th october, 2004, the 2nd workshop will focus on development of cooperation, sharing experiences in environmental capacity building activities.

in particular, the work shop holds the deep and meaningful event due to north korea’s very first joining and contribution in the eia.

the workshop will encourage the green investment which has the ive to improve environmental cooperation in north east asia. and it will also introduce the training program involving the strategies developing projects such as facilitating railways and gas pipes.
