Neulbom School: Learning While Playing in Nature

▷ Vice Minister participates as a guest teacher in the Neulbom School program, conducts nature environment experience activities


The Ministry of Environment (Minister Han Wha-jin) announced that Vice Minister Lim Sang-jun recently took on the role of a guest teacher at Ganam Elementary School on May 13 as part of the ‘Neulbom School’ program*. During his visit to the school, located in Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, he engaged in ‘Nature Environment Experience Activities’ alongside 1st and 2nd grade students.

* Educational and care programs for students’ growth and development by linking various educational resources from the school and local community after regular elementary school classes

 

This visit is part of a volunteer activity involving various sectors of society for the settlement of Neulbom Schools. Vice Minister Lim Sang-jun will participate in experiential activities with 1st and 2nd grade students participating in the Neulbom School program, utilizing the natural environment around the school, to understand the importance of forests and trees and to engage in participatory classes to learn about the necessity of carbon-neutral lifestyles.


Prior to this, Vice Minister Lim reviewed the operation of Neulbom School on-site, met with school officials, and listened to their opinions, including those from the Neulbom school and the education office. He will also have a discussion on the Ministry’s support and collaboration plans* for Neulbom School.

* From the second semester, a tailored Neulbom curriculum (12 weeks/24 sessions) will be provided, including an environmental playroom with Pureumi.


Vice Minister Lim Sang-jun stated, “We will support various play-based environmental education programs where children can learn about the importance of eco-friendly living and biodiversity, integrating them into the curriculum of Neulbom School.” He added, “We will continue to actively cooperate with the Ministry of Education to ensure that children can experience a variety of activities at Neulbom School.”
