Innovative technological progress on waste management to be promoted at the "2003 Workshop on Waste Treatment Technology"

More than 450 people from the waste management sector, including the central and regional government officials, environmental technology experts, and researchers and technicians from the academia and industries will be gathered in Seogwipo City, Jeju Island, to participate in the "2003 Workshop on Waste Treatment Technology".

The Workshop, held from May 22-23, 2003 is hosted by Environmental Management Corporation(EMC), and sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Jeju Island. Among the participants are, the Vice Minister of Environment, Governor of Jeju Island, President of EMC, and the relevant officials from central and regional governments as well as environmental technology experts from the waste management sector.

Main topics on the agenda will focus on the government's comprehensive policies on management and treatment of wastes, transitions in development of waste incineration facilities as well as the trends of new technology and innovative methods for further development.

The Workshop will provide an opportunity for fostering Korea's environmental technology, as well as reinforcing cooperation among the environmental technology experts and the users. Participants will discuss current problems in waste management and seek common solutions, to expand the supply and facilitate the implementation of excellent waste treatment technologies and policies in Korea.
