On October 5, Environment Minister Han Wha-jin attended the First Korea-Mekong International Water Forum held in Seoul. At the opening ceremony, the minister said, "I expect this forum will serve as an opportunity to discuss practical ways to tackle water issues in the Mekong region." 

The multilateral meeting was also held during the Forum. At the meeting, the Environment Minister emphasized the practical cooperation between Korea and Mekong countries to solve water issues in the Mekong region.
