Sejong, May 20 - The Ministry of Environment would like to inform you that the deposit scheme for disposable cups will be postponed until December 2022.   

Due to Covid-19, small and medium businesses, including coffee shop owners, have suffered a lot and the Ministry of Environment acknowledged that SMEs need more time to recover their businesses. The deposit scheme for disposable cups was supposed to be launched on June 10. However, the Ministry has decided to postpone it until December 2022. In the meantime, the Ministry of Environment will come up with administrative solutions to satisfy both parties, the government, and the citizen.
