The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (MCEE, Minister Kim Sungwhan) announced that it will operate a public-private joint delegation in Beijing and Tianjin from June 2 to 5, with the participation of the Korea Environmental Industry Association and 14 Korean green companies, to support the entry of outstanding domestic green enterprises into the Chinese market.

The delegation program began as part of the Clear Sky Plan*, an initiative agreed upon by the Korean and Chinese governments in 2019, and this year marks its eighth edition as a regular exchange event. In particular, following the launch of the MCEE in October last year, this year’s program expands the scope of cooperation beyond traditional environmental sectors such as water and air quality management to encompass the broader green industry, including energy and resource circulation.

* A cooperation plan established by Korea and China in November 2019 to address air pollution (fine particulate matter) and climate change. The plan is implemented annually through policy and technology exchanges, joint research, technology commercialization initiatives, and annual meetings to advance agreed areas of cooperation.

In Beijing, the delegation will operate a Korea Pavilion at the China International Environmental Protection Exhibition and Conference (CIEPEC 2026)*, China’s largest environmental exhibition with a 40-year history, and host one-on-one export consultation meetings with Chinese buyers to support Korean companies in securing export contracts.

* China International Environmental Protection Exhibition and Conference (CIEPEC): China’s largest environmental trade exhibition, sponsored by the Chinese government (Ministry of Ecology and Environment) and held annually (the 24th edition this year). The event showcases a wide range of environmental technologies and solutions, including integrated ecological and environmental management (such as water and air quality), waste resource recovery, and environmental monitoring.

The 14 Korean companies participating this year will focus on creating business opportunities, including securing export contracts and identifying new cooperative projects, by showcasing promising green technologies with strong demand in China. These include integrated solutions for environmentally friendly hydrogen production and storage, resource recovery through waste battery recycling, hydrogen purification systems for impurity removal, and recycling technologies for end-of-life solar panels and electric vehicle batteries.

In addition to export consultations, the delegation will host a Korea-China Environmental Industry Cooperation Forum to provide a platform for mutual exchange. The forum will feature discussions on environmental, energy, and green industry support policies in both countries, while also showcasing the advanced technologies of Korean companies to Chinese stakeholders.

In addition, to address global issues such as energy supply chains and resource security, the delegation has selected Tianjin, which is a hub for resource circulation and hydrogen-based green port development, as a partner city for exchange. The delegation plans to discuss potential areas of cooperation, including demonstration projects in which Korean companies could participate.

Jeong Myeong-gyu, Director of the Green Industry Overseas Expansion Task Force at the MCEE, said, “This delegation’s visit to China is intended to explore comprehensive cooperation, ranging from creating business opportunities through the exhibition to promoting policy exchanges and building cooperative networks between Korea and China.” He added, “We will actively support Korean green technologies in achieving tangible results in the Chinese market by responding to the evolving challenges facing the international community.”
