With the degradation of air pollution in the Seoul Metropolitan areas which account for 12% of the Korea's land and about 47% of Korea's population reside in, the Metropolitan Air Quality Management Office was established to manage a health and clean air quality to the level of advanced countries in December 2003.
The Metropolitan Air Quality Management Office has been making efforts to reduce air pollutants such as NOx, SOx, PM10 and manage clean air quality in the Seoul Metropolitan areas through a wide range of measures including Air Quality Improvement Measures in Seoul Metropolitan Areas, pollutant reduction measures in collaboration with local governments, and implementation of total pollution load management system, distribution of low-pollution cars and installation of pollution reduction method on operating diesel-fueled buses.
The Metropolitan Air Quality Management Office will make every effort to pursue systematic administration for a clean and healthy air quality, protect the health of the local citizens, and promote economic development in harmony with the environmental protection.
