▷ The first edition of 'Steps toward a Blue Sky for All' will be issued on January 2nd, a newsletter featuring domestic and international fine dust policy trends.

▷ The newsletter will be published on the website of the Ministry of Environment in order to discuss fine dust policy trends in Korea and China as well as cooperation trends between the two countries.

The Minister of Environment (Minister Cho Myung-rae) will issue a weekly newsletter on domestic and international policy trends, titled 'Steps toward a Blue Sky for All,' on the official website of the Ministry of Environment (www.me.go.kr) every week starting from January 2nd.

Until now, the Ministry has been providing information on fine dust through press releases, videos, and pamphlets. The new weekly newsletter is the latest addition to raise Korean people's awareness of fine dust.

The content of the newsletter will be the latest trends in Korean fine dust policies and international fine dust news, including cooperation measures between Korea and China, and China's fine dust policies.

For reference, the government is doing its utmost to reinforce fine dust reduction and public health protection by implementing the 'fine dust seasonal management system' from December 2019 to March 2020. Permanent measures to reduce the annual average fine dust concentration will be implemented as well.

Also, the ministry is cooperating with other organizations regarding fine dust policies, mainly with the Korea-China Environmental Cooperation Center, the National Institute of Environmental Research, and the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment, by exchanging air quality forecast data and the fine dust policies of Korea and China.

As the first edition of the newsletter will be issued during the first week of the new year, it will feature the fine dust policies to be changed in 2020 as well as the directions and trends outlined in the recently announced Chinese government's fine dust policies for 2020.

From now on, the newsletter will be issued every week during the seasonal management period, in the 'Fine Dust-Free Korea' web site news section on the ministry's official website.

"Delivering policy trends related to fine dust in real-time to the people is an important duty of the government, because it is one of the most imperative social issues of Korea," stated Director General Geum Han-seung of the Air Quality Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Environment.

"We will make a newsletter that can contribute to the public's sincere interest in fine dust policy as well as attract social participation."
