▷ The Ministry of Environment will host the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Expo Asia 2017, aimed at facilitating cooperation and information exchanges on climate change adaptation among Asian countries.

▷ Korea will share its experiences and best practices on climate change adaptation at the Expo, which is linked to the 8th NAP Regional Training Workshop for developing countries.

The Ministry of Environment (Minister Kim Eunkyung), in collaboration with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), will hold the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) EXPO Asia 2017 on September 9-11 at JW Marriot Dongdaemun Seoul Square.

NAP EXPO Asia has been held by the Ministry of Environment since 2009, and this year's event is linked to UNFCCC's international forum to discuss issues necessary to establish and implement national adaptation plans.

The NAP EXPO Asia 2017 is co-organized by Korea Environment Institute and the Korea Adaptation Center for Climate Change, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD). The forum will draw about 250 experts on climate change adaptation from home and abroad including representatives from international organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization for the United Nations (FAO) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and public officials from 20 countries around the world.

Under the theme of "Improving the National Adaptation Plan of Asia," a plenary session and sub-sessions will take place. Also, posters on climate change responses by each government will be exhibited.

From September 13 to 16, the 8th Capacity Building International Training Workshop for Development Countries will be held for 50 public officials in charge of national adaptation from 19 Asian countries at the Fraser Place Central Seoul.

The workshop, themed under "Mainstreaming Climate Change Adaptation in Water Resources," will provide various programs including how to prioritize the national adaptation plan based on the vulnerability to climate change and efficient adaptation in water resources.

The Ministry of Environment will share Korea's best practices and experiences on climate change adaptation, which will contribute to establishing the national adaptation plan of other Asian countries.

The Korean government has set and implemented the 2nd NAP, in collaboration with relevant ministries, with an aim to forecast the impacts of climate change scientifically as well as prevent and minimize potential damages from climate change.
