The Environment Minister visited flood-hit areas for inspection

On August 9, Environment Minister Han Wha-jin inspected the Gwacheon sewage treatment plant submerged by floodwaters. The Minister requested to be fully committed to safety management so that no casualties would occur during the rescue. 


On the same day, the Environment Minister visited Ogeumgyo of the Anyang stream, one of the fixed flood measuring sites. As torrential rains continue in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, the Minister requested to watch the situation of major tributaries such as Anyangcheon Stream, Tancheon Stream, and Jungnangcheon Stream, which have a small basin area, to prevent further damage from heavy rain. 


The Environment Minister also visited the construction site for Anyang stream maintenance and inspected countermeasures against torrential rain. The Minister requested to thoroughly check the vulnerable areas to flood, including construction sites. She added, "In the event of a disaster, the concerned people should be fully prepared to mobilize the necessary equipment and staffing immediately. 


Environment Minister Han Wha-jin visited the Shinwol Rainwater Storage and Drainage Facility in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, to examine the drainage process. During her visit, she requested to prepare for additional damage from heavy rain.
