Ceremony: "Green New Deal Promising Companies" for 2022

Sejong, May 04 - The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups hosted a ceremony to celebrate thirty businesses that were elected as the "Promising Green New Deal companies" for 2022 while sharing the achievements and the exemplary cases from the previously designated ones.

The government will support the selected enterprises for all stages of growth, from R&D to commercialization (a total of 3 billion KRW per business for the next three years).

The Ministry of Environment (ME, Minister Han Jeoung Ae) and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS, Minister Kwon Chil-Seung) held a ceremony to give certificates to thirty businesses selected as the "promising Green New Deal companies" for 2022.

After reviewing the process, thirty enterprises were chosen for the project out of 223 applicants whose business areas are focused on Korea's future growth engines, such as ICT, circular economy, and renewable energies.

During the event, this year's businesses could get an opportunity to carefully listen to the experiences of the previously selected winners to reflect on them in their future business strategies.

Environment-friendly companies working on carbon reduction technology, green IT, green homes, and green vehicles are selected as "Green Ventures" after analyzing their contribution to carbon reduction, SME-criterion, and business strategies.

"Green Innovative Businesses" include ones that create added value by utilizing PV panel wastes and recycled plastics and SMEs that focus on future demands such as catalysts for CO2 reduction and big data platforms for air quality analysis.

"Promising Green New Deal Company 100" is a project co-organized by the ME and MSS since 2020 to promote the growth of SMEs equipped with promising green technologies so that they could be the next global frontier.

Each institution selects a total of 100 businesses by 2022, 50 per each, and provides up to 3 billion KRW in policy funds for the entire phases of growth for three years, from research and development to product commercialization.

A total of 70 promising enterprises have been selected over the last 2 years, and the remaining 30 businesses were designated this year.
