Minister meets with Chinese Environmental Protection Minister

Environment Minister Kim Eunkyung had a bilateral meeting with Chinese Environmental Protection Minister on December 14 in Beijing and signed a Korea-China Environmental Cooperation Plan for the next five years. The Korea-China Environmental Cooperation Plan contains joint cooperation activities such as policy exchange, joint research and technological and industrial cooperation in the field of four priority areas including air, water, soil and waste. Minister Kim underscored that, "With the signing of plan, I hope bilateral environmental cooperation and joint responses to further expand through the Korea-China Enviornmental Cooperation Center. Our two countries will achieve substantial accomplishments through collaboration." Before signing the Korea-China Environmental Cooperation Plan, Minister Kim shared current environmental issues including fine dust with Chinese Environmental Protection Mininster Li Ganjie, and discussed ways to strengthen environmental cooperation and the 20th Tripartite Environment Ministers Meeting among Korea, China and Japan which will take place next year.
