The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (MCEE, Minister Kim Sungwhan) announced that, together with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, it will co-host “Global Green Hub Korea (GGHK) 2026” from April 20 to 21 at Sono Calm Yeosu and the Expo site (located in Deokchung-dong, Yeosu), in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency.

“Global Green Hub Korea” is an event designed to support the establishment of cooperation networks that enable domestic companies to secure overseas green industry projects by inviting overseas project owners and buyers in the green industry sector. Now in its 19th year since its launch in 2008, this year’s event will be attended by around 50 overseas institutions and companies from 30 countries, as well as approximately 150 domestic companies. 

This event consists of a Global Green Vision Forum, an overseas green project briefing session, and one-on-one business (project award and export) consultation meetings. In particular, this year it will be held in conjunction with the “Green Transformation (GX) Week*.”

At the “Global Green Vision Forum,” high-level officials from partner countries in green industry cooperation, including Maya Bukadinovic, Assistant Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, and Wankiwasa Fabian Richard Maganga, Director General of the Water Supply and Sanitation Authority of Tanzania, will deliver keynote speeches on topics such as energy efficiency policies and the future. 

At the green project briefing session, project owners will directly present to domestic companies the details, bidding procedures, and key considerations of major overseas projects in the environment and energy sectors, including the carbon market introduction by the Environmental Protection Agency of Ghana; the ecological restoration project for the aged Pulene landfill by the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries of Mozambique; the New Clark City water and wastewater infrastructure project by the Philippine Development Authority; the Canoas wastewater treatment plant project in Bogota, Colombia; the green hydrogen and carbon storage project by Eskom of South Africa; and solar power projects in Oman.

At the one-on-one business consultation meetings, approximately 350 consultations between domestic companies and overseas project owners and buyers will actively promote the excellence of various green technologies, thereby increasing the potential for exports and project awards. In addition, representatives from overseas project owners and buyers will visit the “Korea Environment & Energy Trade Fair*,” which showcases the environmental and energy technologies of companies in Jeollanam-do, providing an opportunity to further enhance the prospects for local companies to expand overseas.

The MCEE expressed its expectation that this international event will serve as an opportunity to enhance overseas project awards and export opportunities for Korean companies amid a contraction in the overseas contracting environment due to the aftermath of the Middle East conflict.
